The NWGC is a small, British Gliding Association affiliated club that offers full training to anyone wanting to learn to fly a glider. Trial membership is available for £70 which includes two month's club membership and either one long or two short flights.

Take a peaceful family walk on way-marked forest footpaths, or an adrenalin-fuelled blast around some of the best man-made mountain bike trails in the UK. Operators Oneplanet Adventure offer all this and more, including an MTB shop and cafe.

Llandegla Laser Combat (7 miles)

Laser Combat is paintball without the pain. Ideal for days out, birthday parties and corporate events, you can shoot an opponent from around 300m if you use the scope. The guns fire harmless infra red beams similar to how a TV remote works.

Located just north of Llandegla, the Fauxdegla Shooting Ground offers shooting tuition and gun hire for beginners, intermediates or corporate groups. The venue hosts championships and events including Olympic Trap, English Skeet and Sportrap.

Formed in 1908, the Vale of Llangollen Golf Club aims to provide affordable golf of the highest standard. The championship course is regarded as one of the top golf courses in Wales and is a favoured venue for many County, National and Professional events.

Glan Y Gors Park Kart Circuit (16 miles)

Located off the A5 between Cerrigydrudion and Glasfryn, Glan y Gors Park is the largest outdoor kart circuit in the North West. It offers karting parties and adult racing events for ages 9 upwards, and is also MSA-licensed for the more serious side of the sport.

Situated near Oswestry and Llangollen, Springhill Farm Riding Stables is a horse riding and trekking centre that is also a BHS approved equestrian centre. The venue offers riding lessons, teenage riding holidays, fast hacks, and is an official Pony Club centre.
