Settled on the northern outskirts of Corwen, at the foot of the old roman hillfort of Mynydd Y Gaer, is Corwen Leisure Centre. This warm and friendly centre has facilities including a swimming pool, fitness suite, squash courts and 3rd generation (3G) football pitch.
The Centre's 20 metre swimming pool is maintained at a temperature between 30 and 31°C - slightly warmer than your average pool, and certainly the warmest in the area. As well as being open for public swimming sessions, the site offers swimming lessons for both children and adults, swimming pool parties, and is home to Corwen Sharks Swimming Club. For anyone looking for a low-impact exercise class, you might want to try one of the centre’s aqua aerobics classes. Aqua aerobics is a shallow-water class suitable for all levels and abilities incorporating cardiovascular fitness, fat burning, muscle conditioning and toning.
Split over two floors, the fitness suite boasts views over the Snowdonian range. It is fitted with the latest Technogym equipment, used by Olympic and professional athletes to maintain their fitness. You will receive a tailor-made programme for your individual needs and all your information is stored on your own personal wellness key for regularly reviewing and updating your programme. Fitness programmes can also be accessed through the Wellness Cloud app. This free app allows you not only to keep track of your workouts when you’re not at the gym, but it also synchs to fitness trackers such as FitBit, Strava and Garmin. We have friendly, professional qualified staff on hand to offer advice and support.
3G Football Pitch
The new floodlit 3G all-weather-pitch is available for football by arrangement. This top-of-the-range facility is ideal for football at all levels, including league matches. Casual bookings are welcome - the pitch is available during the day and evening, and is also used for children’s sports activities during the school holidays.
Our two glass-backed squash courts are suitable for both league matches and casual bookings. The courts are available seven days a week, and squash equipment is available for hire. Squash is a great cardiovascular workout, where a player could burn between 600 and 1000 calories in an hour! The sport also provides a good upper and lower body workout.
Our exercise classes are also run in the squash courts as the sprung floors reduce the impact on joints when running and jumping compared with running outside. Our group exercise class timetable offers something to suit all ages and abilities including classes which focus on strength, toning, improving cardiovascular fitness, mobility, flexibility and core stability. Our friendly, qualified staff will motivate you through the class, ensuring you have a great time and work towards your health and fitness goals. You will have an opportunity to use a range of equipment – no need for you to bring anything other than yourself, a bottle of water and some comfortable clothing.
